Business Broadband - December 2008
On this page I will give you some advice when looking for business broadband. Business broadband is broadband which is better suited to businesses than individuals. It generally has larger download limits and faster speeds. Business broadband may be a good idea for people who have multiple internet users within their household.
Be Pro Business Broadband
My first recommendation would be the Be Pro package. It's free until January and will then cost £21.50 a monnth for a 24Mb connection and 2.5Mb upstream connection (great if uploading content, via emails, to a website, etc). This plan benefits from unlimited usage and 24/7 customer support. This package comes with 1 static IP address (good for running web/email servers) and 16 more are available. Be Broadband will give you a free wireless router with your Be Pro plan.
The Be Pro plan differs from their Be Unlimited plan primarily due to the increased uploading rate. The increased uploading rate is great for firms who deal with a lot of large media files!
BT Business Broadband
My second recommendation would be any of the BT business total broadband plans. Prices for these plans start at £15/month for a small firm and go up to £40.50 a month for a much larger firm. This more expensive plan also comes with free mobile broadband and more security suite licences.
PlusNet Business Broadband
Plusnet have been a long running business broadband supplier, 10 years infact. They have different plans depending on how many internet enabled PCs your company needs. Those most affordable plan, which is for a small business with one PC costs £13.61/month. With the plan you get a 2GB download limit, however downloads between midnight and 8am are free (not that this may be very useful for a business). One of the advantages of this plan over other home broadband plans is that you get 240 minutes of broadband phone calls. These can be used anywhere over the web and you even get a voicemail inbox!
With their faster plan which is suitable for up to 10 PCs you get premium bandwidth and much faster upload speeds. It comes with 24/7 support and 480 minutes of anytime broadband phone calls.
If you've not found anything you are after on this page you could look into either unlimited broadband or Virgin's new 50MB Broadband service. There is no reason why a business could not use a home connection, or vice versa.
